Art or Science?
Hey, I’m Polina, a 15-year-old creator and innovator. I seek adventures, and can’t live without passion.
In my newsletter, I want to focus on my feelings, notes, and reflections instead of describing and pointlessly talking about my life. Even though it has been more than a week since November started, here it is - my quick taste of October.
How do you see the ideal school?
My class and I had a task to present our view on what defines a great school, what should we have, or do there. I remember the different suggestions starting from university preparation, APs to the collaboration with Coca Cola. It would be fun if I did this project in a team, but I decided to make it on my own.
Since I’m serious about what and how I learn, you can imagine how happy I was to present something risky! Yep, I could make such project much earlier.
After the classes, I was sitting in my room thinking. It felt so natural and sincere to create and put the ideas on paper. I felt this way, I think because I decided to make a physical presentation instead of Google slides. Chaos, colors on my bed, magazine clippings, relaxing music. It was so unusual to use my hands, not to type on a computer, but to draw.
High standards
I don’t really love this default heading, but it fully describes my current state of education. Since I didn’t say what exactly I presented in my school project, I’ll do it in this part, more than that I’ll show you how this idea works in my example.
It has been two months since I became a part of the global community of young people who make the world a better place, called The Knowledge Society.
What caught my attention the most in TKS was a Focus project. It’s basically a topic I mostly care about, and willing to dig as deep as I can. And finally, in October I founded it - Cellular Agriculture. I didn’t need to choose a path for my whole life, but I knew that I needed to be not only interested in this area, but felt something about it. (here is a video that kind of helps me to choose, extremely individual!)
The focus process is about problem-solving, learning, meeting experts, doing experiments, everything that can help me to make something real as a result. Now I’m researching how to eat real meat without slaughtering animals. And my result might be a solution to grow cultivated meat and animal products in a sustainable, economically viable way.
That’s it, it was the fundamental idea of my assignment.
Mixture
I had the second performance in a theatre with my acting team, which by the way we could do better. I found myself being unattached and disconnected from the team. But no matter what, our rehearsals and performances make me feel more, listen to myself, talk, and understand without words. That’s why I love this combination of my science experience in TKS and my experience on stage. It’s like stretching for my brain!
Here I finally watched the Crime and Punishment play, I read this book in spring only because of this! And the new door opened for me - the play was without words, only sounds and atmosphere.
Ready?
Hm… let’s finish here. I can’t wait to write and share more of the things that make me alive, starting from my no-kill meat startup to poetry.
Why did he kill her?
